Profile

I was born in 1980 in Seattle, Washington. For college I moved east to attend Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where I majored in American Studies. I also became very interested in photography and took any photography courses I could.

After graduating, I moved back to Seattle where I worked as a freelance photographer. In March 2003, I traveled to Rafah, Gaza Strip for the Seattle alternative weekly, The Stranger, to photograph the controversy surrounding the death of American protester Rachel Corrie. While freelancing I also began making portrait photographs, and in 2005, my portraits were awarded first prize in the Photographic Center Northwest Members Exhibition. Later that year I moved to New York City to continue working in photography.
